Last night it took the Indian Shooting contingent 6+ hours to reach from the airport to the games village....! There was absolutely 0.00% logistics and planning.

And then another 45 minutes to find them 'vacant' flats at the village.

So much for the reserved lanes for CWG - Now the OC wants it to be a dedicated 24/7 - CWG LANE :|

The Indian Govt should have marked out a semi developed town in some part of India 5 yrs back and should have developed it with all the stadiums and the Games village.

I am sure it would have been done for the amount we have spent and after the games it would have got sold like hot cake.

Similar to what UK is doing with East Manchester - Legacy Planning - Nifty Stuff ..!

Mani "Snaky" Iyer - Went on and on about it 2-2.5 years back - got ousted from the cabinet for it :P

DNA has a front page on it again. Apparently a snake was found in a athlete's room. While its totally probable, it may be that it could be a few people who now want the games to fail.

You never know.

Actually it was not because of traffic or non availability of reserved corridors on the route. No personnel was available to pick up the athletes at the airport. Then they had to wait for permission to board the bus, which again was not available. They missed their first session of shooting practice at the range.

I am just sick and tired of India's [government] "chaltha hain" and "kutch naheen hotha -- aisa hee hain" attitude. Makes me feel like throwing up. Even our players are professionals of international standards, why they being ignored just cause they are on home territory. Sickening.

if you had seen yesterdays "the week that wasnt" they specifically mentioned it in the way the politicians say "We are not worried"

Racism at Commonwealth Games? Africans upset - The Times of India

Next we add racism to the mix. Of course, Indians are one of the most racist of people in the world and I have quite often seen African origin people (or anyone else who are blacker than Indians) being discriminated against as compared to the treatment given to whiter people who many people treat as if they are superior to us. So it does not surprise me at all if their facilities have been left is much poorer condition than those reserved for people from places like UK.

I was watching the news in the morning and there were interviews from Scottish & English manager... No wonder, Scottish confessed that he & his team is very impressed with the facilities.. whereas English was on the totally different tune. He said, he was hoping for at least 5 star facilities, but now he's not very happy with these sub standard 3 star..

Don't know what is the exact situation in Delhi..

Boycott the games and save whatever face that is left. There is no trust left among the national and international players and a point has been reached where even minuscule issues are getting made breaking news headlines. This can only get worst if it is allowed to continue. Maybe people can forward the chetan bhagat article to the players and ask them to boycott the event.

Either the people of the country protest the celebration of corruption or join in the defense of the corrupt govt in condemning the foreign officials statements under the pretext that it is india's image which is getting effected.

Actually india's image has already taken a hit. I want to watch how congress defends itself in the aftermath. Whether manmohan singh utters the "sorry" word in the parliament and the whole country falls head over heals to that.

I think that they are just being consistent with the standard of cleanliness line. At least they have a clear stance on things :D

Yea really true. Just see the way the people treat White people in comparison to black and brown(us) people at various places. It is as if they would be even glad to lick their asses, if asked.

Social stigma's are difficult to come by..!

I so badly wish, that all the contracts had been given to private companies with no government intervention. We all would have had a ball of a time -- and really enjoyed the show. Right now all the citizens of NCR are dreading the games. My office timings have been offset 2+ hours.
