English TV series discussion

finished Dexter. I am glad thats its over.

I have hardly watched a show which could continue the momentum till its 7th/8th seasons.
Lost, 24, HIMYM, TAHM, Dexter - all became boring after few seasons. Only exception I found was House MD.

Even House lost if for me after a while. Same as Dexter: great character, great actor, decent cast, but with nothing much in the writing department.

The only one that sustained its pace until 7th season for me is The Shield. What an amazing show. I still remember all the characters. Those who watched Dexter's eight season must've relived their The Shield memories after the US marshal was introduced.

I actually thought House too lost some momentum. They were stuck between redeeming him and continuing his character. They did finally show that he was the way he was.

@raksrules - Just watched 'The Blacklist' unfortunately, Mr Spader doesn't has the same presence as Boston Legal. Though the pilot had a decent story, just want to see how they proceed with this and dont get stuck in the "baddie of the week" formula. There is one mystery which is like an open secret -- you might even roll your eyes over it.

Too bad his role was a very short one, not to mention he looked like a wreck. They should have chopped off Jake Elway's role and introduced Kenny right from the start.

^ I am not sure whats left to tell after the events of the last season finale.

Root,

More life saving antics

New Villain

Everyone's back story is clear now .. the first two seasons were more about the past.
Now its about the future .. Det. Carter is still in trouble

The Machine .. its 'dissapeared'

@rakrules I saw Blacklist E1, I for one am a James Spader fan and I will continue watching it for his acting only. Well tbh they pushed a lot into the E1 so how the show shapes up is to be seen. Hoping for a kick ass show :D

Started with Mentalist today. Saw 2 episodes. Seems interesting series.

Saw Dexter Finale as well as last episode of Breaking bad. Only one remains now next week.

Saw 'Hostages' pilot. Another of the "Israeli" political thrillers TV shows on US television ala Homeland. Though this time US showrunners have outdone themselves - it is airing even before it does on Israeli television.

The pilot looked like the series might be over within the single episode. Though they came up with a twist at the end to keep it going.

Still a good show in the making.

:-O Mentalist is really good!

yeah but had too much dose of detective stuff (with Monk before) and spy, next has to be some lighthearted comedy types, may be Parks and Recreation ?
Well, lets see, Mentalist has lots of episodes (> 20 episodes per season  ) so it is going to take time to finish them.

Mentalists will bore you out then. Go with parks and rec. Its hilarious. Or perhaps a office rerun. Never dis appoints.

Or better yet Its always Sunny in Philly.

The Dexter finale was indeed a hard pill to swallow. Unlike most guys here, I started the series by binge watching it over the past couple of months since I so loved the character and the actor. Character development was severely lacking for leading figures while that for the support cast was non-existent. Read a couple of reviews of the finale and both articles invoked BrBa while mercilessly bashing Dexter. Dexter's writers are bad enough; they were made to look even worse as the series was aired in tandem with BrBa. I couldn't help but wonder what sort of treatment the Dexter character would have been given in the hands of a more accomplished writing team. Michael Hall is great, no doubt, but what heights he and his character would have reached when steered by people like Vince Gilligan (rhetorical question this).

I bet you will get bored by it after the first season. The main storyline (Red John) doesn't move much at all. However, the episodes which are centred around him (usually 3-4 episodes per season) are exceptional.

Well pace yourself while watching Mentalist, else you would lose interest. I for one thing the main antagonist thing is stretched way too much and ppl might lose interest in it. But I am a little surprised that you did not watch it yet.
For lighthearted stuff, try Arrested Development if haven't already done. Its hilarious :p
