Graphic Cards GPU pricing trends

In 2017, I could get a budget 1080p graphics card for 11000 (1050Ti). Five years later, the budget 1080p card costs 27000 ( RX 6600). 145% hike in price. Surely, not done.

Ever wonder why is that? Let me jot it down for you in two words... Demand and Supply.

If the former goes up then prices will increase to maximize profits and to slow down the demand and prevent lack of stock. If the latter goes up the prices will decrease to get rid of the stock.
No matter what the situation the seller will always look for profit and will never intend to sell an item for lesser profit let alone for a loss.

Individual miners were not the sole reason but mining farms were.

Price it accordingly to current market trend as everyone else does. Usually a 20-25% price reduction from current selling price is a good starting point.
I know of that. Miners were creating the demand & were also ready to pay the inflated prices, hence prices were rising. There were individual miners as well, back in Jan 2022 when I went to SP Road, there were people enquiring about mining rigs & 1 seller even suggested me to start mining on the PC I was looking to build.

It's not just demand and supply anymore. That used to apply to a just market. It's demand, supply and exploitative mentality arising out of excessive greed now; a three factor market.

And God yes, I am just so incredibly happy to see these companies are struggling to clear their stocks. I can afford so many products now and the fact I am in dire need of one, but still won't give in until they realise where their feet are and the same is reflected in pricing.

If someone looking for 3070ti used, prices at 43-44k.

The Ether merge is in less than three days (estimated).
The network hash-rate, while still down significantly from its peaks earlier this year, is still HUGE.
All that is bound to become Zero soon.
It is going to be a bloodbath.

HOOOOOLLLLLLDDDD!

What would be a best fit for occasional gaming ( GTAV, FC4 , FC6, FH5 etc ) @ 1080p Ultra ( to be combined with 5900x ) + occasional PS + PR ?

Will 2060 or 6600XT ( keeping the budget close to 20k ) serve the purpose or does requires a jump to 6700XT ?

1080p60? Or 120/144? Also, do you fancy RT? I don't think 2060 can do 1080p60 Ultra in all games (with DLSS/FSR, yes) and if RT is on your wishlist, I'm positive 2060 won't cut it.

Firstly i wud say 5900x is overkill for that i guess. Then if going within budget, if u can find 6600xt then go for it. If can't then 2060 can be found used for lesser price now....6700xt used will take you up by 8-10k more.

I'm also looking at a similar use case but decided not to go for 2060 as it can't do 60+ fps on warhammer 3 at 1080 ultra. 6600xt comes close at 59.7fps but I'll go for 1tier higher to have room for future. easiest way would be to check youtube for gpu benchmarks of your game. that's what I did for Warhammer 3

Wait for the Ethereum merge and Nvidia 4xxx announcement, higher chances are it will start a domino effect pushing the prices further down.
Maybe you can get a better GPU than 6600 or 2060

Not much possible this year especially in India.
RTX3060ti are almost around 32K-ish mark and my guess is it will definitely go under 30K
I have also seen multiple listings of RTX3070 around 32-34K
Sudden influx of loads and loads of GPUs from mining operations and retailers trying every tactic in the name of sale to get rid of their stock has pushed the prices to the point where we are now.
And I don't see any reason why it won't plunge even further.

All those are used gpu...if counting that then i've seen 3060ti going for 28k also. But don't expect prices for new gpu fall below what they are right now. And also nvidia will be releasing refresh of 3060/3060ti/3070ti also of which 3060 wud be downgraded and other 2 wud be upgraded.
