Hi, My old Rig (in my sig) has gone Kaput. So am planning to get a PII 955.
I have a 21inch LCD. I will be getting A GP-AL650 SMPS with the new rig.
My budget is 12K for a GPU(lower would be better)
I am interested in games like Flight sim, HAWX, Batman etc. Should I get a Geforce 260 or get a Geforce 250 (zotac -> cheaper) and get a 96XX for dedicated PhyX? Does PhyX crack works properly for ATI main GPU? or I should just stick to a 4850 1Gb and save for future?

I suggest you should go with the HD4890 at this moment..
or if you really want a physX card, get a GTX260..(and a 9600gt later)

IMO, dedicated PhysX dont matter a lot,
and no you cant couple a dedicated physX card with a non-nvidia primary GPU..

guys, a little help :D

i want a gfx. card that can play gta4, Dirt2, crysis wh... at very high graphic setting at 1366 x 768 Widescreen 16:9 resolution or 1024 x 768. :D

HDMI is a must

i dont care about dx10 or dx11.

i'll connect the PC fulltime to 42" TV :D

budget's also a problem, can put only 6k atm.

saw 4770 for 6-7k in other thread, but its 128bit mem. worries a bit.

What PSU do you use?

What is the min power requirement for 9600GT? would it run on a sytem with Corsair VX 450 Watts Power supply?

Dont worry, it will glide on a Corsair VX450..:)

Is Corsair VX450 sufficient for HD5850 ???

I am not sure about that..
i suggest a VX550 minimum..

The power requirement for HD5850 is not much, but when coupled with your whole system(which i suppose is high end)..the VX550 should be the minimum as it will give you room for overclocking as well...:)

Thanks,
I think Ill go with 785 chipset and its IGp for the moment. Now that DX 11 has come and with Open physics support set to come, not sure abt PhysicsX's future. Will save now n get a good GPU arnd 10~12K later on.

What about 4850 or 4770?

HD4850 and GTS250 are both better than a HD4770..
since you have a good PSU that can run HD4850 and GTS250, dont consider HD4770..
GTS250 is slight better than a HD4850, and gives lower temps also...

Re: The Graphic Card Advisor

Any reviews for hd 4730 priced about 4.5k 512mb gddr5 40 nm. Is the price true and how is it good with 4670 and 4770. Just wanted the info coz read in chip magazine it is a steal atthe price the performance it provides. And since no one on te is suggesting it.

It came into news in between..
somewhat similar to a HD4830..
but never seen it being retailed..

Re: The Graphic Card Advisor

Hello,

Can I use Tagan TG500-U37 to power up HD 5850/5870. It is a certified 500W PSU but delivers only 18Amp per 12V rail? I have read in a review that the cards require minimum 20Amp per 12V rail :S. Is it true or over exaggeration? The card is very power efficient and does not go beyond 170/188W under stress is what I have heard :D. Also, ATI does not speak about Amp requirements in its site .What would be the consequences if I give it a try and the system is stable for long? Please advise.

Below is my system specs. I am not into overclocking or stuff.

E8400 3.0 Ghz
2X2 GB Corsair 800 Mhz RAM
Asus P5QL-EM Mobo
Seagate 500GB SATA II
Zebronics Bijili Cabinet 1X120mm Fan + 2X80mm Fan
LG 22X SATA DVD Writer
PALIT HD 4850 512 MB DDR3 RAM
TG500-U37

Re: The Graphic Card Advisor

It is not recommended to run HD 5870 on that psu...

although HD5850 will run,

A corsair VX450 is able to run HD5850 as It gives 33A on 12v rail..

And a tagan 500 U37 gives 36A on 12v rail..

it wont give you room for overclocking and upgrading,

so it is recommended to get something a notch higher..
