While we are all up and excited about PSJailbreak (PSjb), there might be a risk on playing with PSjb on PSN. According to SKFUand RichDevX, the Backup manager game ID (LAUN-12345) could be logged/recorded by Sony when logged into PSN (when online). This would obviously allow Sony to see who would be using the illegal PSjb/clone and we could very well see ban waves similar to the Xbox 360. Sony does currently ban PSN/consoles that results in the 8002A227 error code.

As people start getting their PSjb in the next few week, we highly advise that you do not log into PSN while using the backup manager, which means no playing online.

With the steep price of PSJailbreak , and the possibility of the USB being useless/blocked after a firmware update, many are eagerly waiting for an alternative solution. While we wait for the devs to get in their units, Mathieulh has tweeted encouraging news on his Twitter a few hours ago:

The exact chip for the psjailbreak dongle has been identified, looks like dumping it will be easy.

We encourage all of you to wait before spending money on buying the PS Jailbreak USB dongle, it is only a matter of time before we get a free/alternative version.

Just a friendly update email and some advice for you over the coming days and weeks.
While PS Jailbreak team have told us it should be possible to support future firmware versions on the PS3, it’s is not guaranteed, they will need to access any newer firmware’s than 3.41 and if needed release an update for the PS Jailbreak to support the newer firmware’s. So we wanted to give you all some advice that if a system update is released for the PS3 in the coming days or before you receive your PS Jailbreak which blocks system updates, we recommend that nobody update their PS3 for the time being. If a PS3 system update newer than 3.41 is released you should keep an eye on the PS Jailbreak website for news on compatibility with the PS Jailbreak on the new firmware’s. Only update your PS3 past 3.41 firmware if the PS Jailbreak team say that it’s safe to do.

Seem like the PS jailbreak crew is ready to take on Sony. For those that pre-ordered, you might want to reconsider. This looks like it’s gonna get crazy as the battle between Sony and PS jailbreak might have just begun.

Just stumbled across this ......

The site Elotrolado possesses a copy of the famous PSjailbreak that attracts everyone's desire at the moment and we benefit disclose information about its operation with the games. The main findings:

* Backup Manager can be uninstalled.
* The backups created with a console can be used on another console (with Backup Manager course ...).
* Saving a Backup on the internal HDD is much faster than on external HDD.
* The updates of games already installed must be removed if the backup does not start.

Test results:

God of War III:
Size: 40.10GB
Time Internal backup HDD: 90 mins
Time external backup HDD: 280 mins

Red Dead Redemption:
Size: 4.83GB
Time Internal backup HDD: 15 mins
Time Backup HDD External: 40 mins *
* Failed (file> 4GB)

Condemned 2:
Size: 6.43GB
Time Internal backup HDD: 15 mins
Time Backup HDD External: 40 mins

Resistance: Fall of Man:
Size: 15.40GB
Internal backup HDD: 35 mins
Time Backup HDD External: 100 mins *
* Failed (file> 4GB)

FIFA World Cup South Africa 2010:
Size: 7.36GB
Time Internal backup HDD: 15 mins
Time Backup HDD External: 40 mins

Most importantly , due to FAT file system limitations, there seem to be problems installing games on an external HDD in case a file (while being dumped ) is over 4GB in size (which is the limitation of the FAT filesystem) . In the longer run i feel that we the PS3 modding team might have to somehow work out another filesystem which is easily recognizable by the PS3 apart from FAT.
