I hear that Reliance stopped providing New Connections for 2mbps/4GB plan? Is it true? When will they again allow same?

Wow!! i threatened to terminate the connection and my registration issue was sorted out in a couple of hrs!!
And those idiots werent able to do this since the past 2 weeks.....

I have recently subscribed to a Rel WiMax conn. All along I had to log in to access the net. But today morning I got connected without logging-in. I rebooted my pc to confirm and it happened again.

The connection was down for almost a day yesterday because they were upgrading their system. Since today morning I am accessing the net without logging-in. Are any other Wimax subscribers experiencing this?

Also I am getting wild swings in download/upload speeds. Speedtest.net reports dl speeds of 700kbps to (gasp!!!) 1mbps. And speedguide.net reported 411kbps dl and 262kbps ul speed.

Update: There certainly seems to be a speed boost. I am currently downloading Vista SP1 using Internet Download Manager and getting speeds of 250kBps to 300kBps!!!

yup the connection was down since morning till like 4-4.30 pm yesterday....and its working without logging in..
But the speeds are very erratic and my speed is supposed tobe 2000kbps but it aint goin over 1000kbps....
God knows what they are upto....

Okay, something weird is going on with Reliance WiMax.

I am on a 300kbps unlimited usage plan. But I downloaded Trainz demo about 600mb in size from nZone in 55 mins flat using IDM!!!

1. Log in is sometimes required and sometimes not.

2. There is absolutely no consistency in dl speed tests. Various websites report different speeds.

3. Cant download torrents.

4. POP3 access is not available. OE is unable to connect to mail servers.

5. Yahoo.com is available but cant go to Yahoo mail!

6. Zero bytes download is shown on Reliance's log-in page even as I am downloading huge files. Time connected is updated but bytes downloaded is zero.

7. Cant check mail from yahoo.com, msn.com and live.com. GMail is working though.

Results of my latest speed test are as follows :

Choosing a New York server yields the following result :

Update : I have been connected to the net for more than 45 mins. Downloaded data is still zero. Uploaded bytes is approx 6mb.

Something's gone wrong on their end. They've had some problems since Tuesday night. Connection was unstable at first and then down till last evening ~4-4:30. Now, they've blocked all ports other than HTTP right now and yes I'm getting 250+ KB/s. They must have disabled all ports to stop P2P downloads from banging their bandwidth :P

But why arent we able to check our emails? And do we now have to kiss P2P downloads goodbye? That will be a waste of the great download speeds that we are getting!

@cyberjunkie and wraith,

Is your wimax connection working properly now? My problems havent been solved yet. I registered my complaint at their call centre in the morning but still havent got any reply.

There are so many wimax subscribers here and its quite strange that nobody else is facing this problem. At least none else has bothered to reply.

I am still unable to check my emails, P2P is still blocked and the only good thing is that I am getting more than 2mbps speed on a 300kbps line! But since P2P is blocked I am unable to utilise it. :(

A guy had come over today....checked the antenna settings...spoke to someone over the phone and told it s problem from their end and will be fixed by tomm....

P2P is not blocked by reliance.

If you are not able to download anything, means you are not able to connect to peers or unable to communicate with them.

This is mostly a connection problem. you will face this problem with classic wimax issue of 0 upload or DL cinr being poor. This is a physical link problem or your local reliance server is facing issues.

Ocassional couple of hours of downtime usually on weekends is all the problem i have faced. Only once reliance was down for long period last weekend here.

With wimax you will face problems if connectivity is not proper to begin with.

Guys facing problems do this.

Manually set your LAN ip to 192.168.1.10

Subnet 255.255.255.0

Gateway 192.168.1.1

And press ok.

now open IE. And in address bar type 192.168.1.1

A login window will open.

Use username as :root

Pass :telsimawl

And see your signal strength values or better post a screenshot of the same here.

Be careful with this login. Its not regular login, this is root login and you can basically change every single setting from here including the frequencies. So done mess up with any other settings, just take screenshot of signal levels and post.

paraman, still the same. Ports still blocked and I'm getting ~80KB/s on http instead of the usual (normal ) 35-40. There are issues opening a few sites as well. I might call them up tomorrow. I don't know anyone in my area with Wimax unfortunately. Keep posting on any advancements on your end.

Funky, it's not a Wimax connectivity problem. Incoming and outgoing ports for both TCP and UDP are blocked. Pinging/tracert-ing as well. Besides, bad connectivity wouldn't result in 8-10x speeds. Imagine what that would have done to noisy MTNL dialups connections! :P

the problem is with packet uploads with most of the people facing the problems.

I have checked all the regular ports. None are blocked.

Use use ramdom port like 16881 or 12782 etc for your torrents and make sure those are exempted from ur firewall and forwarded properly in your router. If ISP had blocked ports, it should have affected all users and not just few.

Are you able to test upload speed in speedtest.net?

If not you are suffering from the connectivity issue itself. Your downloads will be fine but you will still have issues opening websites, loggin into messengers and email accounts etc.

Also go to http://www.reliancebroadband.co.in there in Tools click on speed measurement tool and check your speeds and if both upload and download tests are passing or not.

Like I said, log into your Subscriber station and check the antenna signal strength values. You will see two values, 1 is +ve and 1 dl cinr -ve value.

if this -ve value is in range of -70 to -75 and +ve value closer to 25, your connection is absolutely fine and problem is on server side. But say the+ve value is near or less than 20 and 0ve value is in range of -50 to -65, you have a problem right there and your antenna needs realignment ( slight 1-5 degrees only, thats why the alignment is crucial ).

I registered a complaint this morning and someone just called up a few minutes back to enquire. He says......

"Sir, You have virus problem!"

Is that so? Why am I not surprised :P So I asked how is it then possible that others also got the same problem at the same time. Then he says

"Sir, then it could virus problem on our server end!"

Very well then... He said he would check and asked me to log in tomorrow and check. I asked him to at least tell their technical guys to look for any port blockingl...

All hail reliance :ohyeah: :ohyeah:

Surprisingly after my "new" connection, with a new ID all's working perfect since last 10 days, 37 kbps upload and download speeds on torrents fixed

Finally a guy from Reliance came to my place. After checking the system he found that the antenna, PoE etc are working fine and antenna alignment is allright too.

I spoke to some Abhijeet, his senior in Reliance and told him about my problem. He said that numerous users across Mumbai and Navi Mumbai are facing problems while checking mails. There is simply no access. Also P2P downloads are not working either. Its a backend issue and they are working to solve it. How long it will take that nobody knows.

Here's my latest speedest result :

As you can see there is no connectivity issue here. The only irony is that I am having such high download speeds but because P2P is not working I am unable to utilize it.

Latest status is that mail access is completely off as is P2P. Till now at least I was able to use GMail but now even that is gone.
