The western narrative has got traction. The Russian one has fallen behind. Won't change facts on the ground.

A couple of theories have had a good test with this conflict.

After the Armenian - Azebaijan clash, people were saying drones are the future. Where are the drones in this conflict ?

People say a lot about cyber but in this conflict we can see that cyber is incapable of shaping a conflict. Cyber can't do much in a hot war unless the other side is heavily networked.

I keep hearing a teenager with a laptop can do more damage than an armoured brigade. But the only use of cyber is for greyzone in peace time.

And cyber is useless against less networked opponents.

Ukranians could have been much smarter than to poke Russia in the eye.

Ukraine should aspire to become the Switzerland of eastern Europe.
Russians can never get their narrative across, before the internet it was the job of CNN, FOX and BBC to beam western propaganda. In the age of social media, again the west dominates. Youtube, Twitter and facebook at will can ban anyone, Many videos that I had bookmarked has been wiped out in youtube.

If twitter can censor or ban a sitting US president, what chance do you think Russian's have. No matter how carefully they thread to Ukraine with minimal civilian casulaties, the western propaganda will say the exact opposite, many in Russia question why bother then . Since Russia could use the US style scorched earth method like they did in Iraq.

If one believes the western propaganda we will get the impression that Ukraine is winning.

Not a peep about the Azov Nazi group human right violations. They kill anyone who they suspect is helping the russians with no investigation at all. since the russian offensive I have seen Ukrainens killing other Ukraines, all of the victims where unarmed civilians or appear to to be in civilian clothing. They crucify people in this day and age, yes crucify with nails.

As far as drones yes they do help a lot in protecting conveys, but with out air supremacy non stealthy drones are useless, if the convoy as a anti aircraft weapons system operating.

Most of the videos coming out of ukraine where the TB2 drone of Ukraine target vehicles where when the AA system was not active.

Further more if a country as the fighter jets in the air, drones are useless. Sure they can score a few kills here and there. The main reason to use drones are because they are cheap and if they are shot down no humans will die.

Cyber warfare can cripple a country only if the effected computers are connected to the internet. If a cyber attack where to take place, US will come out worse off then the Russians, which still use good old hardware and analog devices in many of there infrastructure.

Lesson for India. We appreciate Russians are better at this than we are. After all they kept the west up at night for two centuries.

neither side used scorched earth. Saddam used it when retreating from Kuwait in 1991

Not seen much use of the Russian air force here yet Russia still retain air supremacy

Indians should keep this mind in a conflict with China. They are more vulnerable to network (physical as well as electronic) disruption than we are.
Thanks, I was concerned about it devolving into a good / bad squabble.
It's about Indians remembering who had our backs for the last half century

But we need to have this conversation, the way counter warfare was waged by the US is a huge wake up call for us.
Indian regulations on foreign funding of NGO's in 2015
Australia passed foreign political non interference legislation in 2016
US regulations regarding designations of foreign agents
Canada freezing bank accounts of those organising unrest

People say Canada is being undemocratic and hypocritical but remember two thirds of Canadians supported GoC invoking emergency.

It is high time we build our own critical infrastructure - physical, digital, economy, military and energy.
We have valid reasons for fearing China, but we need to learn lessons from them, their infrastructure is significantly more decoupled.
Will take a decade or two to materialise but the right moves have already begun. It will take political commitment to sustain.

I am not completely sure of this, our government systems run on dated computer systems, and bulk of our communication relies on phones which are of Chinese origin + software services that are of US origin. China has their own messaging apps, payment and cloud infrastructure which they could switch to in a jiffy. They also have the great firewall which would significantly hamper any information warfare from our end.
I am not saying we should do it, but we should have the capabilities, negotiating from a position of strength is important.

Russians have been a good regional power, but in geopolitics there are no friends and enemies, just alignment of interests.
This war will cripple their economy and make them reliant on China, which means they would no longer act as a balancing force.
Not saying we should abandon them, but counting on them for anything in future would be a risky proposition.
India should push for peace in a way that would prevent further destruction of Russian economy.
It would also be in our interest to participate (with caution) in financial infrastructure of both Russia and China. CIPS & SPFS.

Will take a decade or two to materialise but the right moves have begun.
Hopefully.

Have seen this video, some very interesting points were brought up, especially Russian inability to detect ICBM launch and their apprehension around it.

I was comparing the conversation of 3 generations of people. The Cold War generation, those in the video you posted were discussing how to bring about peace. The next generation, from all in pod below, were focused on economic impact but still talking about peace, but Gen Z in Oxford Union video below seem completely oblivious to realities of war and are urging for further military supplies to Ukraine. The difference in objectives and perception of reality of each generation was quite interesting to see.

ALL in Pod

Well, i'm saying we should.

Overall, Austin says, the West (specifically the US) is winning the cyber battle “The broad narrative that China is winning is really a gross exaggeration; their cyber defences are weak,” he says. “And we never hear of all the times the West successfully hits them or Russia.”

We have powerful friends.

Where will we get spares for 60% of our arms from then ?

How would that help to bypass American sanctions ? when it came to Iranian oil we had to cut them off completely.
Hopefully.
We've been having this discussion since the 30s. Really old school. Back then it was called Swadeshi :)

Will reply to the rest when i watch it.

^Thanks, I was using Russia 24

The audio is generally good. youtube can transcribe Russian in close captions. You can then use auto translate into 110 languages. including 11 from India.

Better to do this on a laptop. Chrome has this 'Translate into English' option which will translate all youtube video titles in the channel video list as well as youtube comments.

They like General Bakshi :)

Brutality will ensue when urban warfare starts. Syrian fighters supporting Russia is allegedly reaching Ukraine, where random locals are given AK47 by their psycho govt., inexperienced naive people with molotovs are not going to win there. Rather, local Ukrainians with guns will fight killing each other.

btw, in-before blaming others for racim, etc. looking at allegations like these may be interesting:

And then wonder how and why people go to war.

RT is not available in India on YouTube anymore.
On reddit /r/Russia is quarantined for misinformation, but /r/Ukraine is accessible.
Interesting.

Yeah, if its all lies why are they hiding it. This is the point. Get western controlled media to dominate the narrative.

That telegram channel is still up and has been useful to figure out how the info war is going on. We know why the nuclear power stations were secured so they could not be sabotaged and blamed on the Russians. Why residential areas were hit because op centers were located in there as well as weapons caches. Russians have gone on the offensive with the bioweapons labs and put the west on the backfoot.

But in this conflict the west is an onlooker, a cheerleader nothing better than opposition party propaganda.

And the west is going to allow Putin to do exactly as he damn well pleases :)

Yeah, if its all lies why are they hiding it
Exactly. In Russia, anti-war messages are being hidden from all channels, not just specific reddit, or YouTube channels. Rain TV, one of the few remaining relatively free channels in Russia resigned publicly en masse, on air.

But pro-war messages, can be freely published on a huge majority of the internet, just excepting a few, examples of which are posted here. As can be seen on this thread also.

So from your logic, it is clear which one is lies. Indians in Ukraine bombed, but some Indians openly supporting the person ordering the bombing, no restrictions.

These narratives don't matter

Putin has the support of the majority of his people for this war. And US, NATO & EU are allowing him to have just the victory he wants.

They are taking out pro Russian sources because they are outing western propaganda

Couple more telegram channels

This bit I don't believe
Moscow has claimed that secret American biological-warfare labs in Ukraine were a justification for its unprovoked invasion of the neighboring country last month. It doubled down on the accusations Thursday, claiming the labs produced biochemical weapons at the Biden family’s behest.
Putin mentioned what his political objectives were and why he went in.

So nypost as opposition media is creating a scandal to target Biden. This began in the last months of the Trump administration where they found this laptop and it was hushed up because it was decided this was a trick to get Trump re-elected.

The amount of interfering going on here is funny. Russia is interfering in US election. So is Ukraine. And Ukraine's foreign policy is dictated by Washington. That is why a small country like Ukraine thinks it can pick a fight with Russia. Not only Ukraine, earlier in 2008 and even smaller country like Georgia tried the same stunt.

The people in Ukraine that want good relations with Russia are ousted, sanctioned or otherwise silenced. So there was no feedback mechanism to prevent the current disaster. Ukraine's politics got hijacked by ultra right elements since long. The coup in 2014 were democratically elected president was toppled and west leaning candidate installed.

Barack Obama spearheaded setting up of dangerous bio-weapon lab in Ukraine, US President Joe Biden’s son Hunter Biden secured funding for it: Reports

To understand the psy-ops going on between US & Russia check out what Scott Ritter has to say.

He was a weapons inspector before the Iraq war.

This story will take time to unentangle and i doubt there is much to begin with. Russia brings it up first to accuse US because this chemical weapons thing is usually code for a western strike like it happened in Syria.

58 Tomahawks fired into an airbase. Symbolic action. Russians alerted one hour before incoming. And after Trump got bashed by his supporters for doing it :bored:

> This bit I don't believe

Even I didn't want to. Considering the unfortunate reality in case those were real. But got bad surprises again and again from not-so-(un)expected parties:

Exclusive-WHO Says It Advised Ukraine to Destroy Pathogens in Health Labs to Prevent Disease Spread

EXCLUSIVE WHO says it advised Ukraine to destroy pathogens in health labs to prevent disease spread

If the labs does not exist, why this directive ?

The greatest trick the devil ever pulled was convincing the world he didn't exist.

Listen to Scott Ritter. Nobody is denying the labs existence. After the Soviets collapse people with this knowledge had to be kept on the side of the good guys.

What is being discussed is bioweapons etc. Lots of crazy shit. All psyops by US vs. Russia.
The greatest trick the devil ever pulled was convincing the world he didn't exist.
I enjoyed that movie :)
