Thanks a lot viralbug, just used installed the CFW for my phone. I really hope the speed stays the way it is now. Also, how is the battery life of the phone ?

Also can you hook my up with the original Nokia firmware if I ever need to revert back ?

The battery life is about the same as the original firmware. Not much of a difference I guess.

Whenever you want to switch to original firmware, download the original firmware files using Navifirm and flash using those files with JAF. :)
 
Hello Guys... My 1st post in this forum :)

I have a problem with my 6 months old Nokia 5233. The resistive touchscreen surface is not even throughout..
It is slightly bumped up in the middle which makes it a little difficult to press it there (It works but i have to press it slightly hard). Tapping it is not a big problem but scrolling with that part is a not as smooth.

The problem was there from the start. Though I didn't realized as i was new to resistive tech.
Is this a common problem? What should i do ? I am not willing it to send it for servicing as they take a month or so...
I can provide pics if needed...

Yello! I was planning to gift this mobile phone to my brother. What's the current cost in Bombay and what accessories are included? Any cons or issues I should know of? Most importantly, how is the battery life?
 
^during diwali the price for 5230 was about 6.9k.and that for 5233Was about 1k less.
I think people are now looking for other options with 3g already launched in mumbai and reliance giving 21mbps speeds. Still for basic touch screen with gps and large screen its a good phone.
 
It's retailing for 8k on Ebay along with 2GB card. Should I wait for a month or 2 for the price to come down?

the 6.9k price tag was inclusive of 2GB card, data cable and a car stand.

the price on ebay seems too high.
 
Oh boy! That's a 1k difference. I have another option of getting any Nokia handset on EMI using my HDFC CC (which I just got). So is it worth getting this phone from a Croma showroom pn EMI or you recommend something else? I think showrooms would probably charge at MRP of the product.
 
The pricing was from a local brick mortar shop(those who specialise in mobiles) and was the lowest quote i found. Better would be some local research.
 
i need help regarding 5233 & Ovi/PC Suite connectivity.

My cousin's 5233 is recognized by Windows 7 32bit as Mass Storage drive, but its not detected in Ovi/PC suite.
very very frustrating, tried with blue tooth dongle too, but it gives even bigger PITA.

have tried all the usb ports.

with both the dongle & cable.

many other have complained about same prob.

btw, phone is jus 1month old.

Happened many times with my Nokia 5230. But for me the problem was self solving. After sometime it used to start working automatically.
 
New Firmware Update available!! v40.0.003 out!

Just updated, QWERTY keypad is slightly better with larger font, smoother and faster navigation, specially in the gallery, Browser updated.

Didn't notice anything else so far. Will comment on batter life soon,
 
Urgent help with an app guys.

I need an app that would password protect other apps like messaging, gallery, etc. I used to happily use Advance Device Locks long back but somehow it just stopped working. I need to use it again now so looking for other apps. Any suggestions for a good app?

DId you notice they screwed up the Menu Transition animation??? While closing and opening the main menu, the animation starts from the centre.
 
Hey guys can you please tell where can i get the original touch screen digitizer for this phone? I live in New Delhi and thinking of replacing it as the phone needs to be pressed hard in the middle.

And how much will it cost?

Nah No changes in the menu transition in my phone...
