I think GTA4 should work in Vista or XP compatibility mode. Though the performance might not be that great as the drivers are just the preview drivers as of now.

The performance is still amazing, and except for IE8, have not found any other nagging issues in this build.

Will be posting a screenshots review of the amazing Sticky Notes app in Windows 7 later today.

I dont think it will support, as even Vista needed Service pack 1 to run GTA 4 properly.

Update : compatibility mode doesnt work, tried with Windows XP SP2 and Vista RTM.

Thanks for the Info.. very useful. I guess i'll install it when i'm done with GTA.

Another question: I hate the Vista part of switching audio devices (Realtek on-board). I have to keep switching audio devices between speakers (for gaming) & SPDIF (for movies/Music). Does Win 7 fix this?

I'm posting this right after installing it. But for the network adapter, all the other drivers were installed by default. Took me 25 mins flat to install and log in (faster than windows xp for me). And the first impression is definitely positive. Is smoother than vista, and uses lesser ram on default startup. For me, this is the real successor to xp.

VMWare workstation appears to be working fine although the hidden __vmware_user account shows up in the login screen :)

Windows Firewall was insisting on not allowing utorrent incoming TCP connections, had a hard time finding/opening firewall! Can't get to it via right-clicking the network/LAN systray icon, needed to start it from control panel. That too only able to open the port by running a troubleshooter, it wouldnt accept the direct rule.

I like the flying coloured lights - pulsing windows flag bootup animation.... trippy

You want to know how i allowed uTorrent through the firewall? Trust me, they could not have made it easier :hap2: The ease of it!
Wont say much, will only ask you to take a look at just two screenshots. Thats it, took just two steps :P

Allow a Program through the Firewall.

You simply had to allow uTorrent to communicate through the public and the private network, whichever type of network you were on :ohyeah:

Would this be successor to Vista though?

@alsiladka: heh, ya, i had earlier made entries to allow both the program and the specific port, but utorrent was reporting port blocked until i ran the troubleshooter :D

what if i completely disable to firewall, do we still have to add an exception to the firewall for utorrent, i seem to get lower speeds on torrents as compared to vista :S

Damn thing killed my hackintosh installation in no time , wasted my whole day reformatting & installing OSX & windows Vista again.

BTW the 32bit version does seem to be good. zIt runs Photoshop CS3 & old Autodesk Max 9 ( in compatibility mode ) pretty well.

But hey , my love for a mac is way more than any of this windows business

Instead of trying to get both to multi-boot, you spent a day formatting and installing Mac and Vista again!!

Just installed 64 bit... after some fiddling I was able to install drivers for all of my hardware... was impressed with that. The only problem is that when giving me an overall score for hardware I am getting 2.9 on read/write for hardrive. Was getting much higher with vista... methinks there needs to be a better driver so I am going to try install Nvidia 680i chipset and motherboard drivers.
