Your Experience with OLX/Quikr?

I have sold loads of stuff on Olx and Quikr. Also bought a few things I couldn't find anywhere else like the Nokia pure view at half price . Lowballers aside, it's a great place to get rid of your unused stuff.
Olx > Quikr though.

People are dumb enough to not even read one single line from the ad and they just call. I have had numerous calls asking "Kitna GB RAM hai" and blah blah and i have clearly mentioned in the ad to first read it entirely and that too in BOLD and UNDERLINE, 3 times and ad is very detailed as well. The product has issues and i have mentioned it clearly with all specs and everything but still who cares to read the ad.
Damn they even ask me "kaunse company ka hai" when that too is mentioned.

I had listed a phone for sale on OLX last month, deal was done immediately & phone was sold next day, as soon as i deleted the ad( it was less than 24 hours since it was posted ) i started receiving back to back calls of buyers , in 10 minute period after deleting the ad i received 5-6 calls , dont know if olx did it on purpose or coincidence .

spot on! we (forumers) perhaps put the most-detailed ads on olx/quikr, even then people don't read a word of it, and start shooting off unnecessary queries.

Olx is the worst place to do transactions . Much rather prefer erodov or company buy/ sell forums

But when you want to sell stuff, it is always better to put your ads all over to get maximum response. I have sold lot of stuff on Olx/quikr in last few months. Many a times i prefer them because i do not want to ship the product. Like i sold a electric kettle (for water) through olx, it was big in size and i wasn't really interested in putting on TE etc due to nature of the product (assumed many wont be interested).

@raksrules - i have a hefty TV-cabinet (hefty in the sense, heavy, but with no frills). its about 7ft in width. would it be advisable to put it on sale on olx? am concerned about how a buyer would take it away, labour-charges, etc.

Transportation should be his/her headache. You should price/bargain accordingly, considering transportation cost might occur. In short do not give buyer a reason.

Mention everything clearly and have PATIENCE !!
People will call without even reading the ad properly.
Do write that transport charges to be borne by buyer and be cool because people will bargain like anything. Stick to your price if you really think the table is worth it and you are in no hurry to sell.

actually getting a new cabinet installed, and the carpenter agreed to take the existing one back for 3k (originally made for 15k, 4 yrs back). i thought to take chances with olx. but the carpenter called up a while back and said that he's arriving with the new cabinet today itself. i enquired how will you take the existing one back, to which he said that he would disassemble it by taking out its screws wherever they are fit. so i think this is how it should be sold (transported) off, in case i still go ahead to list it on olx. can't decide for now. let me see.

I feel you should go with carpenter route, lesser hassles.

Posted this AD on Olx and already got 4-5 calls asking for the device LOL, i tell them to go and re-read the AD ;)

iPhone 5 - 16GB - Mint Condition - For sale - Only Rs 18000

Nah I am not selling any iPhone. This ad is just for timepass to prove that people do not care to read ads completely before calling the seller and then ask dumb and stupid questions.

I will be keeping a count of number of people who call me daily for this ad and see how many dumb people i catch :)

Will update my count in the ad as well, daily...LOL

Have fun.

On more absurd thing about many people who reply to ads using SMS , their messages are very small and in SMS lingo and without any reference.
I have like 4-5 ads on olx/quikr and all i get reply is "lst price pls". I mean WTF, take some effort to write more info on what product you are referring to. Just don't send short messages with almost negligible information.

am now guessing that these are 'bots' employed by olx/quikr to spam your cell and email, in a bid to show how one gets so quick and multiple responses by placing ads on their respective websites.
but on a second thought, i also think that they may be actual people like us who respond, as i seldom get any enquiries for my listed products. :(

@Kilroyquasar

Let me tell you something. If i am in market to buy say a phone and i check OLX/Quikr, what i do first thing in search results is filter and sort in descending order of date. So the latest ad comes first and this is because i believe that there is a high chance of an older ad to be useless because the product may not be available any more. This is just my perception and can be different for others.

So what i do is every 2-3 days i delete the old ad and repost it. In Olx, just don't delete and REPUBLISH, actually post it again as if a new ad. This way you ad will stay more on top and current and you can expect more replies.
