BSNL 3G Thread

Ok, got the IPAD BSNL 3G Card. Here is how it unfolds:

I reach at the desk and as expected the desk is full of aunties with one alone uncle on one side.

I reach to the lady and start:

Me(With a smile ;) ): Madam, mala IPAD 3G cha kard hawa hota. (Ma'm I would like to have 3G card).

Lady: Ho aahe na, paper aanlet ka tumhi? (Yup, you can have it, do you have the papers with you?)

Me: Ho, aanlet na. (Pause...), madam, ek doosrya madam hotya ekde, tya disat naahi aaj? (Yup, have them.... pause.... ma'm, there was another lady here sometime back, I don't see her around, everything is ok?)

Lady: Ho, tya raje war gele aahet. (Yup, she is on leave)

Me: Accha, sagala thik aahe na? (ok, everything alright?)

Lady(Here she smiles, opens up): Ho ho, sagala thik aahe. Tumhi, he card IPAD madhe waaparnar na? (yes, yes, everything is fine, You are going to use this in IPAD right?)

Me: Ho, madam. (yes, ma'm)

Lady then hands over me the sim card then, I take it and walk outside without being bothered about anything else.

Right now at home, inserted it as it is in UMG1831 with some care about alignment and its working great. I am using the same one to post this ;).

So, am back with another unlimited plan.

^^And it costs 999 per month ok. Do we get a Micro SIM to normal SIM adapter and only way to avail the iPad plan is to get a new micro SIM from BSNL ? And then recharge through any local shop for 999, something like that ?

God knows why BSNL has capped speeds in Pune :@

too all above post regarding non normal sim way , can you edit or don't popularize it so all those BSNL babus do cap or shut it way like they did with 4200 UL

:ashamed:

if there is something u can use PM or IM to discuss ;)

IIRC the 4200 UL plan was always a promotional offer; it had nothing to do with it being discussed being here or any other forum.

In my case it gets disconnected frequently. At evening till night, all i do is either download using IDM or torrents and in between it disconnects. Due to this i am also not able to download from MU/RS etc because of no resume.
I do not get any PPP error or so. But sometime, the mobile partner screen shows just connecting and never actually connects. Sometimes says "connection terminated" and gives option of redial. When connected there are patches where speeds are like 300-600 kbps and rest of time they are fine at 2-2.5 Mbps

btw, which plan ? 1k for 10gb ?
As you are using torrent downlaods coz regular surfing takes up quite a bandwidth.
1 week and 2gb for 2 month plan of mine is already at its end, only did regular surfing, sometimes youtube thats all.
What plan you suggest?

Still on the UL plan of 4200. Exactly one month left for it to expire. Also i dont use much direct download because it requires my intervention every 15-20 minutes because i cannot schedule a lot of downloads together because of disconnections and since i was downloading from file sharing sites so no resume too and if i go every now and then to the PC, my wife gets pissed off :P
Torrents make life easier as it requires very less intervention.

My Up time :ohyeah:

I recently traveled to Andhra, Karnataka and Tamil Nadu in last week. I used 3G (98RCV with 3GB usage) everywhere and it did not apply any roaming charges in any of these states.

Was very glad to know that no roaming was charged for data usage by BSNL.

Anyways my 4200 6months UL 3G data card has expired :( Thinking of buying a MTNL Sim from Mumbai.

Is anyone using a MTNL sim with the 4500UL in Pune? Hows its working here?

As majority of people are nearing their end of the UL period can someone take the honors and enumerate the 3G data vouchers which will be cost effective to hold the sim for 6 months in wait for better plans.

TIA.

^^I hope you get that soon and report back since my UL plan is also going to last for 20-22 days more. Btw BSNL does not charge roaming data even on dolphin networks so other BSNL networks it wont.
