BSNL 3G Thread

guys I need to help my friend configuring manually in Windows. I don't have Windows, so I really don't know. Modem is Huwaei E173 [I think it won't really matter which modem is while configuring manually]

and it's a SHE, need precise naive steps :hap5:

Ok.. I'm getting a little confused with BSNL prepaid. I got a 3G sim after paying Rs.59 just a few hours ago. Now I need to do the FRC. Which one should I go for? I want to activate the "all @ 49" voice plan. I would also like to activate the data plans in 3G. So, should I do a Rs.48 FRC (for activating the all @ 49 plan) or the Rs.120 FRC (for 3g prepaid data plans)?

^ This page shows the All @ 49 FRC is Rs 58 for Saral Anant and Rs 56 for Normal. Whereas this page shows its Rs 48. :S

Anyway you can choose an FRC which suits you. AFAIK you can activate the 3G data plans after doing any '3G' FRC. :)

The TN BSNL page shows Rs.48 for the same; and I was also told that Rs.48 FRC needs to be done. Will do that.

Still on the UL plan of 4200. Exactly one month left for it to expire. Also i dont use much direct download because it requires my intervention every 15-20 minutes because i cannot schedule a lot of downloads together because of disconnections and since i was downloading from file sharing sites so no resume too and if i go every now and then to the PC, my wife gets pissed off :P
Torrents make life easier as it requires very less intervention.
you can try queueing for mediafire links. I recently downloaded about 26 files simultaneously. I.E 26 files from those file sharing sites.

Anyone else have connection issues from last night? It started with no 3g signal for a while and then Error 678 : Remote Computer did not respond from then. Issue still persists - this in Chennai

I am little confuse on this....

Which plan to go for ?

Or i am very late to take this offer

@logistopath which plan you have taken ?
I'm not sure if you are talking about the voice plans or data plans. I'm opting for the "all @ 49" voice plan; the number will be my primary mobile number from now on. I am trying to get the microsim for my data needs.

Well after seeing so many speedtests of 3G
thought will post one of my BSNL EVDO
With sierra Wireless 595U --- worlds fastest CDMA EVDO modem
Using a patch antenna mounted on roof
Tower is 500M away crow flies distance
Without antenna signal strength was -64dBm
with patch antenna signal strength is -46dBm
screenshot taken today at 1100 am
consistent speeds 280- 300 kB
bursts 325 kB
This is in daytime
so it should improve in night
will test in night and update
so will it go to 350 kB the theoretical speed in night ?
Torrent is of torrentleech

I'm in Chennai.
I'm facing serious disconnections. I get connected & after couple of minutes browsing connection drops. No problem in EDGE.

I have an iPad, I live around Hyderabad area, what is the best plan from BSNL to get for it? Price wouldn't matter, I just want some stable 3G connection where ever I go.

^ Get the 999/- unlimited plan :)

@topic,

I just got an iPad SIM and E173. At 70% signal, getting 3.1Mbps downlink. Will go for the 999/- recharge this weekend.

Earlier i was using Normal 3G SIM and it was like 3.6 mbps until February and then it was capped at 1 mbps..Since my 4200 UL plan expired got an ipad SIM today ..using it with Huawai E122... but my speed is capped at 256 kbps.
While the post above me says hes getting 3.1 Mbps :\

^ Seems like you got unlucky just like me! My first iPad sim was capped at 128k! :'( Then I got another sim from a different CSC and its capped at some 4-5 Mbps :ohyeah:
