BSNL 3G Thread

hey supra, I went to this petty shop in hyd, the shopkeeper said i would have to pay 100 bucks for the sim, and then pay 120 for the recharge, there is also a 140 wala option, but there is no Rs.59 ka option. I did double check the sim, it reads 3g, should I go ahead and buy it?

Its a 3G sim, don't know about plan. I just asked babu to give me 3G prepaid sim for which I paid 179bucks. Rs59 for sim and 120for recharge. Got Rs50balance and 6months validity. I tried with access point as bsnlnet, bsnllive. no same speed on both.

Those people didn't knew how to operate a touch screen phone, not sure they would help me with my slow speed problem:mad:

If connection working in 3G plan and there is no setting issue with mobile phone, contact BSNL office to adjust 3G parameter for the number. After that you will be able to get 2MB+ speed.

Go to a BSNL CSC na...there are lot of activation issues...also say if its a pre-activated sim 7 days UL might not work. So I suggest to go a CSC and tell them to give RS 59 3G USIM and do a Rs 58 FRC

Hi,

Decided to try at non-peak hours, 5:00AM. and this what I got:

Downloading from Microsoft's server with IDM:

Now this makes me wonder, if there is no issue with my sim. the network itself is overloaded, which is donkey balls:|

Gaurish, You are not the one. I got the same 3G sim for Rs 179. and I'm ONLY getting GPRS signals. Not seen 3G yet. Finally you have seen 1.38 mbps speed....I have never seen above 20-25kbps :) I'm using sim in Huawei E1750. I have not recharged it, when i contacted BSNL CC they said i have to recharge to get signals. But when i contacted nearest BSNL dealer, he said in my area i may not get 3G signals so don't recharge it, it's pure waste. In my nearest city 3g service started. I'm staying just 15km away from city so no signals. I think you are in same situation.

Where are you located?

@ Supra , I already having 3G activated working sim with my Samsung Galaxy 3 , in phone it's working good but right now Eclair & Samsung Kies not letting phone to use for net connection .

I have checked above with other user also it's same thing for them also .

Today I went to nearby CSC ( Vadodara - Gujarat ) , asked about this diwali 4200 Rs. Recharge - aunty told me that you can't use your sim with Data card , you need to buy their datacard with new 3G sim :S

aunty says for data card won't work with your 3G sim as it's meant for mobile use :S

when I asked whether 4200 FRC available she said no beta it's not avilable .

After that I went to another CSC , where finally 4200 Rs FRC is available but again same story I need to buy data card with new 3 G sim .

btw here the 7.2 MBPS BSNL's data card is in stock , cost 2500 /-

@ this CSC they said , we will not recharge your current sim with 4200/- unless it is bought with data card (their BSNL's own ):clap:
keep it up BSNL aunty & uncle

Supra, what are your thoughts on the frequent disconnections? Any workarounds apart from downloading the USB hotfix and the python script?

^ Every 2 GB of data transfer they drop the connection. It happens exactly at 2 GB. It also gets disconnected due to other signal strength issues etc too.

Anyway I am using the Seagate Dockstar to dial and share the internet connection. It automatically reconnects and the delay between reconnects is only 10-20 seconds.

The hotfix is NOT a workaround for the 2GB or any download limit. it got to do with a frequent disconnections like in a hour or so it happens. have seen various data transfer rates in that time. Its the high speed data transfer limitation of the USB driver.

and using the windows inbuilt dialer does the trick. been doing this with the phone. waiting for the modem.

@multi go to android market and install easytether lite. Switch usb debug mode ON. Then go the site mentioned in the instructions and download the pc part of the app. Install it on pc. If you have samsung kies installed then you wont need the modem drivers to be installed again. If not then no worries just download the modem drivers from that app's webpage top.

Enjoy browsing on your samsung galaxy 3 with usb. No worries of battery discharging as it will charge automatically.

As I said I'm using it in a Linux system. So the windows USB driver issue wont affect it, but still there are disconnections not due to the 2GB limitation as well. The maximum connect time that I have got at a stretch is 4 hours.

Anyway the speeds are awesome, so I dont mind the disconnections. :p
