kuduku Done sir, order placed, the seller will ship from Honkong to India. Dunno how much time it will take to reach by post. Also i am looking out for another modem to use with my sim.
How is the AC2766 any reviews or feedback on the same. I tried the AC8700, but was not that happy with it. As discussed with you, planning to use one modem at home and one for travel.
no idea on them but i do concur that ac8700 is useless . Why not micromax one ? which is also sold by bsnl

Well not availabile here locally and i don't want to spend over 1k for the modem. Bsnl near my house has only Pruthvi and micromax online is around 2k. So pretty expensive deal.

The seller has shipped the modem out today. The timer begin let's see how much time it takes to reach.

Trail & error my friend :) nothing else can be done.. I sniffed prithiv & got taste of it so i opted for sierra.. but sierra not giving me speed of prithiv.. Finally its 1.5mbps connection for me on avg with all the circus I have done so far..

That;s surprising, as this is one of the best and renowned modem, but you are not happy with the speeds. Well from whatever tests i have done one thing is sure, the signal strength definitely is higher in 595 compared to other modems. i can't comment on speeds much as i am not having that good signals and multi tower coverage like you have. Also i have not seen any connection drops happen on 595u. It only happens if the battery gets weak and you get a red light on the modem.

I am trying to buy one AC2766. Once i get the same then we can test it out to see how the performance is. I heard that modem is good.

To add to that we all are a chosen few, who are using this modem in the entire nation. Just think about that, how many people in entire India would be using this modem.

Couple of my observations and learning's : -

Do not use too long usb cable with the modem as if the power drops, it would use battery and after some time of usage you would see the power indicator turn red.
Check the ports on which u connect the modem, ports on which pwoer is low or on USB 1.1 ports the performance would be low.
Also on such ports the signal and speed will be low.

I found the signal to be better on the rear side of the modem. Front facing does not matter,as per what i have seen, its the rear side on which signal varies. I may be wrong.

@plikmuny : I sent you a message and there is no response. Also posted on the forum, but no reply from you. If i do not get a response from you by evening today, i will go ahead and put the other modem up for sale.

hey Dushie

i was in line - i did say i was interested , don't post a sale - i will pick it up from you!
cheers
:)

please feel free to pm me your bank details by evening along with a contact number, thanks!

babhishek : Where are you located ? Please message your contact details. As i have not heard from plikmuny i will sell the modem off.

My reliance signals are fluctuating these days, so would not be able to remove that antenna. Hence i have ordered for one Antenna, will post updates once i get the same. Still no news on the cable. Let's see when i get the same.
@kaneunderground : went to the terrace today, it was very windy the best signal strength i got was -59dBM. But speeds were low, may be due to bad weather or weekend and too many users downloading stuff.

Did some more testing today, had a friend who is dealing in MTS in town, he bought with him 2 unlocked modems AC 2746 & 2766. Did signal test on the same. Both the modems were unable to catch any signals and connect. Whereas in the same location my 595U is getting 2 signals and i am able to connect.

Thought i would share the same, that the signal strength this datacard has is not a gimmick and is really good. I have tried and tested this now with couple of modems and still the 595u beats them all.

Now i am looking forward to getting my antenna setup with the cable and do the real test to see if the situation improves.

@Dushie : Even I went to tarrace last evening full signal -65dbm max download speed was 240kbps fluctuating between 200-240kbps . I guess this is it it can give me only 2mbps on top of my house unlike prithiv which gave 280-300kbps. I am not gonna tweak anymore not greedy :D will be happy with what I have even inside house these days I get around 180-200 up & down so its ok ..

Yes, as if you are getting 2Mbps constant speeds, it is good enough. What is important is stability and good connectivity. Most modems would heat up and hang or disconnect at such high speeds. How long have you ran the 595u at a stretch ?
Did you face any issues ?

It would be good to share this information.

Now waiting for my pigtail. Once i get the same would connect and check what speeds i get with the patch antenna.

the disconnection issue seems to be resolved at my end.. maybe some server work was going on.. back to 3mbps glory.. :D

Has a quick question, i will be traveling out of station on a long trip in couple of days time. Before leaving i just want to make sure if my EVDO is activated for roaming or not.
-Is there any way i can check the same.
-Is the sim activated by default for roaming.
-Do i need to do something on the same. As this will be a long trip for over 2 weeks.
The areas that i am going BSNL does have coverage and i am sure EVDO will work. Also when i am on roaming do i need to change the user and pass or the same Bangalore one will work.

Also my due date to recharge the EVDO is coming up so, what is the best way to put balance of Rs 750 in my sim. Do i do a top up of Rs 800 or do i do a STV recharge of Rs 825. I am a bit confused. I would want to go for the cheap and best option. Also i would be doing this through PayTM.

I know i asked lot of questions, but just thought to clear this out once and for all.

^ Roaming is activated by default. You just need the corect PRL loaded and it should work.

Right now you will be on the 750 UL EVDO package which gets auto renewed automatically every month. Just make sure you have the required balance before the renewal date. Just do a topup of Rs 800 through PayTM you will get usage value of about Rs 780 enough for the plan to auto renew.

if you can connect through xxxxxxAAAxx.in then evdo is activated for roaming and thats the pass for the same

Thanks, all this surely helps a lot, my due date is 16th for recharge will , do a topup of rs 800 from Paytm.

@babhishek: have handed the 595U to your relative today in the afternoon. Let me know how things go. Hopefully by now you would be well versed with DFS and would have captured all the required screenshots.
