Clear the browser cache , most of the times a majority of phone memory is occupied by that .

Yeah i did that...cleared the privacy data and managed to reclaim about 8MB.
Is it that apps downloaded and installed from OVI store are installed in phone memory. I suppose yes :S

ebuddy - web messenger
Batch Uninstall - as name suggests, uninstall multiple software from phone together.
mcheck - recharging my airtel prepaid card
symtorrent - for some reason never downloads anything, kept just for sake of it

No , by default they are installed on the memory card. In the Ovi store app, goto account >> settings (or something like this) and there you can choose where they would be installed.

HAs anyone purchased this from Univercell they have a decent price compared to Ebay.

Buddy, no point in contacting univercell. I had already called them last week before buying my phone and they told me it is discontinued and wont be available. The lady on call insisted on getting the 5233 instead.

Hey i checked that (account -> settings -> installation preferances). It is set to memory card only so it is sorted. Thanks for the headsup. :hap2:

Can anyone tell me why some apps open only half the screen. As in on top half there is the main app and on bottom there is four way navigation and ABCD Buttons. For me this happens with ebuddy messenger and couple of others.

Regarding the availability of Nokia 5230 in KOKATA :

I just called a few priority dealers. Some of them said its not available but its available for 8800/- at City Centre and Hiland park. Right now, only the silver color is available but they are hopeful to arrange the black one for me in the next week. :hap2:

@others, is 8800/- too much ? How much should I bargain as I'm a noob in this matter. :ashamed:

Goto Settings >> Applications >> Installed Applications >> Select the App >> Suite Settings >> Turn the virtual keypad off.

^^ Thanks for that manu

I used GPS a bit today and since i dont have yet any OVI maps of India, i used google maps. But google maps uses GPRS/EDGE connectivity also in tandum with the actual integrated GPS on the 5230. Is there any way that google maps does not use any sort of GPRS/EDGE may be by downloading some inbuilt maps etc, not sure.

@raks

btw, one more query :P which IEM are you using with your 5230 ? I was thinking of getting either PL11 or PL30. What do you say ? Shall I observe any diff between them with 5230 and do I need any amp like E5 ?

Hey i am using PL11 with this and they rock. But my primary MP3 player is sansa clip+ since i had got it lot of time back (Go on TE). Have not used much of the 5230 for music yet.

Although have not tried EP630 with it but ep630 are no way near to PL11 sound quality. Get a PL11 i suggest.

@raks hey 1 question from my side , how you installed nokia step counter in your phone , i tried the app today , it got installed but while starting it always gives some engine problem , jsut let me know if i am missing something

I did not do anything special. In one of the above posts harryneopotter has given a link. While installing i suppose the app says that it is not compatible but i continued with the installation and works perfectly for me. Not sure why it is not running for you. May be restart the phone and reinstall and check.

If nothing works search for "Nokia step counter" (not sure if it is same as harry's link) and try reinstalling it.

I am getting very low speeds while installing maps using nokia maps loader. India map is like 103 MB and this app is taking a lot of time to download. It is not utilizing the entire bandwidth. Torrents are giving me more than 200kBps speed but this 103 MB stuff shows 8 Hrs remaining :O

Any alternate way ??

Finally loaded India maps for ovi maps and its works well. Also loaded garmin XT and maps for India. Works well and is able to pinpoint my location very well.

Not sure about one thing that all these GPS softwares use bit of GPRS connection initially and it is supposed to be because of the default GPS as it requests some location server connection :S

achha, tell me something - I was exploring the choices of micro sd cards and found class 2 16GB cards are available as well as class 6 8GB. Now, I'd love to have 16GB memory for storing videos/movies/flaacs but shall I have any problem for low speed ( 2MB/s ) ?? Or I should just get a 8GB class 6 card as many of the apps will be installed on the memory card itself and thus will load fast for higher speed ( i.e. 6MB/s ) ??

I'm not concerned about the videos as even a 720p video usually has 2Mbps ( i.e. 0.25MBps ). People who used both class 6 cards and class 2/4 cards can give better info. :)
