Guys facing issues with alarm and to do list. After the alarm of to do or actual alarm goes off there are two options namely snooze/silence and stop with some red and yellow animation going from left to right and right to left. Now at this point if i tap on the screen it just does not respond. It just happen here. Even double tapping also does not work.

you have to swipe your finger in the direction of the animation. This only happens if the screen is in lock mode so that to avoid accidental taps. You have to do the same thing to accept or reject a call when the screen is locked. Same reason, to avoid any unintentional/accidental tap.

you need to slide animated arrow towards it is pointing to select any option.
similer like unloking iphone.

Can anyone tell me what this kinetic scrolling means ??

Also as i have mentioned before that i need to have maps for India (and other whatever countries i get) for the Ovi Maps software. I suppose for that there is a maps loader PC installable thing available. But any way to download the maps over the air over GPRS/EDGE connection and install them???

Kinetic scrolling is a term used to denote the scrolling of a long list a single flick. For example, in the contacts list, a quick flick from the bottom edge of the screen to the top will scroll through dozens of contacts, possibly more. Without kinetic scrolling, you would have had to swipe from bottom to top many, many times to scroll through a long list.

Don't you have a PC/laptop? Maps are hundreds of MBs and will take ages to download over GPRS. Technically, it's possible to download the maps from Nokia's server straight to your phone but it involves a lot of playing around with cartographic data on your memory card. You don't want to get into that mess.

^^ Yes i do have laptop but here in Pune i do not have internet connection at home so even if i do this thing at home it will be using GPRS / EDGE only. Possibly i will try it the coming weekend when i go to Mumbai and will have better connection.

Anyone here facing phone restarting problem with their 5230 ??? I am facing it
Although not very frequent but yes it does happen especially when i am navigating or say checking messages / personalizing profile

One more thing...

Today morning for some reason when i went to the file manager it did not show anything in place of memory card and said it had got corrupted :O
I removed the card and connected to computer and found that everything was intact. I took a back and formatted the card and copied back the contents to card.

Now since then, opera mini 4.2 and 5 beta which were installed on my phone previously were not showing :S
So again downloaded opera mini and it said that i already had that installed.
If that is the case then where it is and how to find it ???

Moreover my phone memory is showing free as 35 MB. How do i see what all is occupied by what and free the memory accordingly.

Query: Is there an application which like calculates steps takes, distance travelled etc type that can assist one in jogging etc ???
SE has something of that sort right ??
PS: Sorry for so many queries in single post...you see it is getting automerged.

1. For restarting problem, have you updated your phone's firmware to the latest one ? The latest version is 12.0.089. To check your firmware version, dial *#0000# on your phones numeric keypad.

2. You may have to reinstall both the apps. Go to settings--> Application manager-->Installed Apps; and select the said apps and uninstall them through the options menu. After that re install them again.

3. To check the Memory status, go to Menu-->Options-->Memory Details-->Phone Memory. It will take a few settings to scan and check the memory. So dont panic if nuthing seems to happen for a few seconds:P.

4. Here is the download link to the app u want :
Nokia Step Counter

Hope it helped :P

^^ Hey thanks for the replies

1. My firmware is latest one only.

2. In application manager it was not showing opera mini at all :S Is it that it only shows sisx apps and not java ones ??

3. About phone memory, i cannot locate what is consuming memory :S Is there any FE Explorer type app for this phone ??

Has anyone managed to install Garmin maps on 5230/5800 and if yes can you give some headsup ???

Also what does it mean by hacking the phone??? Is it risky to do so and how easy or difficult it is to do it ?? and most importantly are there chances of screwing things up in between and in that scenario reverting back to original state ??

hey rakssrules.

Its very easy to hack the phone via the hellox2 application..

It really is..

Did u get my pm..

Check it out :)

Yeah i did get your PM. Will be able to check on weekend only as i dont have good internet connection here.

Does any one know how to free the phone memory. I checked using intenal file manager and it says 23 MB occupied by "Other files" :S
I then used X-Plore to check the C: and it shows only 4.3 MB used.
Any help ???

Also do the apps downloaded directly from OVI store (over the air) get installed in memory card or phone memory ?? It never asks for where to install.
