Reliance Jio Rollout

Also, the packs pricing is going to be 30% higher than what they(media) used to hype. likely to be Rs.30/Gb on an high end monthly plan.

BSNL is totally a loss making unit now. Even couple of months back there were talks that it could be merged with MTNL. BSNL has one of the best infrastructure and still they are not able to compete with the private players as they lack quality leadership and ofcourse it being a government run unit. Even their mobile network is so bad that they have lost almost 60% of their customers.

Reliance Jio is set to launch 4G-enabled handsets in the second week of September, ahead of the formal launch of its 4G services. The handsets, priced between Rs 5,000 and Rs 25,000, will see a nationwide launch through Reliance Retail under Reliance's consumer electronics brand, ReConnect.

Designed for the Indian market, the handsets will be configured to work across multiple frequencies on which 4G services are offered in the country. The handsets will be VOLTE (voice over LTE, commonly known as 4G)-enabled. Essentially, VOLTE means voice will be carried over the internet, unlike GSM services.

Reliance Retail will also sell Wi-Fi dongles.

too much hype. what if they go all airtel style and screw us big time with pricing :(
I can bet, Jio pricing would be easily 50% of what airtel is charging now. No Rs 10/Gb or 50 per GB, these speculations are mere delusional.

"Jio is likely to offer 1GB at close to Rs 60," an industry executive aware of Jio's plans told ET. Incumbent operators offer 1 GB of data for anywhere between Rs 150 and Rs 200.

Jio will be providing FTTH services/WiMax Broadband that should be considerabely cheaper. although it may take longer time than 4G to come.

Recenly they were re-arranging existing Jio fiber cables and did install Splitters. I asked about Wired broadband roll out to a guy who was supervising.
He was sure that it will be available right after 4G official roll out. :) May be 1-2 months according to him.

Mukesh Ambani’s Reliance Jio has entered into a spectrum sharing deal with younger brother Anil Ambani-backed Reliance Communications. The sharing deal is for 800MHz band across seven circles.

^ Even i think so. Also on the other side they have 20Mhz spectrum in every freaking circle on 2300Mhz for LTE.

Mostly likely for Voice.

BSNL is going to launch LTE on 2600Mhz.

Reliance Industries on Friday said it has already pumped in close to Rs 93,000 crore into its telecom venture under the 'Reliance Jio' brand and will start selling its 4G handsets under the LYF brand from Diwali.

Lets hope the rollout happens soon.
Any idea about the broadband plans?

:(
For mobile broadband current speeds are also decent and largely satisfies the needs of most of the customers. What matters is more stable/reliable connectivity at reasonable costs. and mainly good high speed stable reliable broadband connections for homes. Specially Pune sucks big time even today.
There were rumors about ACTS coming to Pune few years back but clearly nothing has happened. Other handful of good players are also present in a very small area.
