I actually prefer portability , so adding a separate amplifier will be a hassle .

I will always prefer a IEM that's easy to drive on direct PMP's . that's why avoiding even TF10 . ( as have heard that it shines much better wid an amp )

hmmm , if u or the experts advice amping is very much necessary then can go with a portable amp only , not a DAC cum headphone amp .

something so portable that can be tied together to my PMP :)

No E3 or E5's ( I just don't wanna spoil my high volume listening pleasure )

even a ibasso is a bit large and bulky .

where did you get the idea that TF10 are hard to drive, they are very easy to dive just like S4 .

All audio gear benefit form a good DAC (unless they are really bad). most of the BA IEMs do not require a very good amp. ...also the synergy due to the frequency response of the DAc, amp and the audio monitor (IEM/HP/Speakers) also matters

TF10's are were great with my blackberry, and to add to that they had a bad synergy with my Maverick D1 DAC/amp

i know they play well without an amp , obviously there Vi version for iphone sells most for this reason only .

but dunno where i read that , TF10 paired with an amp performs way way better . I guess it was @ head-fi only .

these days i am reading so many random reviews @ random websites , i actually forget where i read what .

I will follow head-fi only i guess in future or some amazon customer reviews .

Well , if i go for a new IEM from re252 , then it might be DBA-02 or DDM . dropped the idea for IE7 as of now .

I can assure you that TF10 doesnt require an amp and actually it doesnt play well with many amps.A few are exceptions though.

tf10 pro vi just has a mic, and a trrs jack that has the same configuration as balckberry/iphone mic/HP jack.

there is no difference b/w TF10pro and TF10pro Vi in terms of drivability or sound quality. its just for those who want to use mic with th phone and do not feel like taking off the set to make a call.

BTW that "where did you read " was to express that i do not agree with you i really did not ask you to show me where actually did you read that..:P

clieOS has said that the synergy is not very great as both are warm. You don't have to sell free stuff, gift it away :P

@superfrag,

Looking forward to your JH-13 impressions by 2011 (or earlier?) :)

I'm hoping by 2011 Q2. Will try to manage before then, but I doubt it..

Sorry i missed ur post , well as of now i am driving them with my fuze most of the time . Sometimes with my dell notebook . ipod's also at times , but mostly using FUZE only . I am more of a drag and drop person , which is not there in apple :(

Hmm.. if you're looking at Portable amps, small one's that can easily fit along with an iPod or the likes, take a look at the RSA P51 Mustang, or the Alo RX, or Pico Slim. All three are great, and are extremely small, with good battery life. Obviously do more research when you want to buy a portable with regards to sound signature and synergy with your IEM's.

Who told you this........TF10's are the easiest to drive outta all the top tier iems. Amping makes no difference to them, just adds color to the sound. They already have a low impedence and a high sensitivity. What do you need an amp for?

ATM i'm using the Sflo2(LO) -> Fiio E5(Bass Boost on) -> Tf10 and the bass is amazing. If I skip the E5 it sounds much better, but bass boost is addictive.
Using the E5 till i can get an Alo Rx which I can use with the M50's as well.

^ OMG you too a basshead :O Can't imagine E5 with a TF10 .. They sounded so amazing straight out of the Sflo ..why mess with it :P

Lots of bass is fun. No doubt about that. But for me, more than 20-30 minutes of listening with increased bass gives me a headache. lol. I prefer leaving "lots of bass" listening to speakers/clubs.

I just started feelin guilty since the past 2-3 days that i wasn't using my E5 at all. So since i already own it, din't mind throwing it in da mix to see what kinda sound i get.

@ benny -

Benny and E5 don't match at all !!!!!!

LoL , E5 should be soon out of ur junkyard even , as u are considered an IEM and HP freak . And freaks shouldn't use lower end products .. LoL :D :D

Well , as of now i am keeping my IEM buying on hold , enjoying my 252's day by day more . will try to source new foam tips for them (thinking better fit and better isolation will improve the bass notes )

And now posting a WTB thread for a Ad700 or M50 . Will buy both one by one , need to try a open and closed high end can now . Lets start from this bare min level . Last can i bought was 2 yrs back HD202 , Closed Can . Lying unused since then , so kinda time to add some more stuff to the HP collection :D

The M50 is a good can. The E5 is just a phase. It will pass soon.
You should come down to SG, spend a day at Jaben, try out all the HPs and IEMs that you keep reading about at head-fi. Pick up one or two that you like. Post your views here. Spread the light. ;)

Singapore Calling :D :D

if i ever come ,w ill definitely make a GT ( Group Trip) lol .

Esantosh , Faheem , Strategy coming along :D :D

Oh and yea, i forgot to mention. The Re252 are excellent iems, i tried faheem's 252 couple of times and the bass and the mids were amazing. This was in comparison with my TF10 so trust me they are really good. One thing i noticed that the TF10's are very forgiving. But the 252's AFAIR, there was a major difference between faheem's fuze vs my macbookpro as a source. The mbp brought out more detail and opened up the sound. Made the sound a tad bit more enjoyable and i remember liking them a lot. Faheem kept saying that a lot of people have problems with the fit initially, something about memory. I got a good fit just like faheem did. If you can get a good fit outta them then your good.

What a lot of reviewers don't do is just use an iPod or just a fuze as a source. They use really Reference Flac files -> high end dacs / iPod(LO) / Fuze(LO) -> high end portable amp like an Alo Rx / Rsa Protector -> IEM.

No wonder they get sooo much detailing and imaging out of the same IEM that we use and we keep wondering why can't we feel the same way. ;)

^ True . Nothing sounds as good as heavy(weight as well as on pocket :P) desktop DAC. All my IEMs sound exceptionally better with the el-cheapo uDAC compared to my Fuze. Wonder what those 1000$ DACs sound like :O

Brilliant and useful reply ^^ thumbs up for this one ..seriously !!

Well , since i tried the bi-flange earlier and then moved to the regular medium sized silicon tip , i don't think now fit is an issue at all , i get the perfect isolation now . But still a feel of thump in low bass notes is missing . ( might be i m more used to spend quality time in night clubs .. lol ) , where as source is concered , even i am using FUZE directly connected to my 252's , as portability ends if i plan to add up a amp .

Already enjoying my Z5500's for desktop use and they are enuff for my 10x24 ft room .

Now considering your post that ur MBP really made 252's more enjoyable , means that a better source ( may be an S:flo2 ) or adding a portable quality and non-expensive amp might to the trick . If its so , then should i plan for a portable amp now ?? if yes , then whats the VFM option , considering my audiophile lust :P ??? Also keep in mind , i might use the same amp to connect my AD700 and M50's later .

^ If you want more bass .Rockbox your Fuze and increase the bass to +2 or +3 db from sound settings. Doesnt distort the sound and makes the 252 more enjoyable.
