Only the faggoty beers are diluted... that's why I stuck to Fosters in India.Shade said:That's the trouble with modern day designer beer.. they're far too diluted.
Speaking of a worse case scenario...Gaurish said:There is a basic difference. in Business model of two companies
1) Mircosoft - earns on sale of Software & Support
2) Linux companies like red hat - earn only on support

what are you trying to say here?
Using linux would case accidents?
you may not not Linux kernel is most robust that it is used in Launching space shuttles, running Super computers
I feel.simply locked under window$ ,nursing your winblow$ with anti-spyware ,anti-virus and what not..
favoring windows for what? Do you like to live under the boots of bill gates? Do you want freedom of Open Source?
Dont you know that you are directly or indirectly using Linux and Open Source? (web servers ,db apps ,google and what not! apache, mysql et al)

About 300 million (30 Crore) of our countrymen are below poverty line (monthly per capita consumption expenditure below Rs. 356.35 for rural areas and Rs. 538.60 for urban areas in India ) . India needs to spend wisely particularly because of it's ever increasing Current account deficit as well.

Its well established that Microsoft's enterprise support has no competition, applications that ran on win95 still work on vista too..there's no way we can see the same reliablity on linux..
MS made windows from the core, everything has been well documented, while linux has bits and peices from various developers, In situation of a major failure or problem, who do u think will come out with a solution faster..
With a major company like MS there's money and reputation at stake, with railways there are lives and people's time at stake..Thus, railways can rely on MS for quick support, seeing that if it gets the blame for any mishap, there will be money and reputation at stake...
Try not to just laugh at other people's arguments, this being a forum u guys tend to ignore and make fun of useful help and guidance...Once u go into the real world u'l know how hard it is to find some quality reply to your queries...
If someone gives 3 point reply, u ignore the 2 that blast your argument off and target the third..Tells a lot about you than u think and abt your aim of posting in threads..
Kumar said:Yeah right.
How much woulld you think the railways spend on OS? 5L? 10L? 1Cr?
when compared with the other wastages that are being done by our government, it is in comparision a miniscule ammount.
I wish people here would have the same sanity you posess...Neotheone said:I don't understand why everyone is in such a combative mood. We're discussing whether the decision to go for Vista is a good one, and the fact that government has regularly been making awful decisions does not make this acceptable. If someone has a point, bring it forward gracefully....we're on the same side here fellas !
My objection here is more to the mindset . A few instances here and there won't hurt much but a lack of concern about government spending among the people is the best thing that could happen to this generation of "thugs" disguised as politicians .
Anyone who has a reason to choose benefiting MS instead of an Indian firm, please come up with reasons. I will be more than happy .
PS: This thread should be moved to the general talk section IMO .
Buddy you really had a screwed head..
That too when someone has only pressed valid points that even in the worst case can be answered with simple logic/ arguments (if they hav one.)..STFU
Neotheone said:It is about thinking simply a bit more on cost-effective solutions. I wonder what arguments people can have about the fact that there are Indigenous companies in India that are competent enough to provide any kind of customer support. Why then does the railways choose to go In for a deal with MS , directly putting dollars in the US kitty while it could have easily have hired Infosys or any other software firm to Provide support. Why does India have to rely on buying technology when a free alternative with an indegenous sloution (with tech support) exists ?
We are thoroughly dependent and buyers of technology and equipment in the defence ,Industrial production , And electronic hardware sector . Why not use the only areas of expertise out country has (software and customer support industry) ? Why not create jobs in the country and profit MS instead ?
